For I will restore health to you And heal you of your wounds,’ says the LORD, ‘ Because they called you an outcast saying: ” This is Zion; No one seeks her.”‘ Jeremiah 30:17

Today I am thankful for God’s healing hand.  My son Jeremiah came to the United States back in January of 2008.  He came a very sick little boy.  It wouldn’t be discovered until he got here that he had an auto immune disease called idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura or ITP.  Basically he has a low platelet count even though his bone marrow produces plenty of platelets.  Normal counts would run anywhere from 150,000-450,000.  Jeremiah was well under 10,000.  Every time he would bump into something he would swell up immediately because instead of his blood clotting and forming a bruise, his blood would just pool up and cause that area to swell because of the internal bleeding.

We have had several scares with his condition.  Times when his airway was blocked for a few moments to falling down the stairs.  The concern is always the internal breathing.  This past summer we began praying very specifically as we learned and read about George Muller.  Our whole family began laying hands on Jeremiah and praying for his body to be healed.  At this time our health care insurance had been dropped because our business had shut down.  We kept in contact with Jeremiah’s doctors.  They said that as long as his count stayed above 20,000 we wouldn’t have to get a treatment.

Jeremiah began stating that he knew Jesus was going to heal him.  He said he could feel his body being healed.  We began proclaiming that healing for Jeremiah.  Then one day he was swimming in the pool and he and one of his brothers were playing around and his face got hit.  Immediately it swelled up.  I took him to our local urgent care and had blood work drawn up.  His count was 29,000.  We were getting very close to the place where he would need a treatment.  But Jeremiah insisted that his body was being healed.

Towards the end of the summer, Jeremiah had a horrible bike wreck.  Of course he wasn’t wearing his helmet.  He went straight down our back hill at full speed…no breaks on his bike…eventually he flipped over the top of his bike…chest slamming into the handlebars…flipping over…landing on the back of his head and his left wrist.

He stood up.  I ran down the hill to meet him.  All of the kids were in panic mode.  I began checking him over…breathing…check.  Went through all of the brain bleed questions…check.  No swelling anywhere.  Then all of a sudden his left wrist quadrupled in size.  My mind went into panic mode.  Surly he must have internal bleeding if his wrist did this.  As hard as he hit his chest I was shocked that his breathing hadn’t been hindered.  I knew his count was low.

Jeremiah can’t go to the local hospital.  He has to go to a speciality hospital because the type of treatment he gets.  One hour and fifteen minutes away.  Forever away.  Before we took off we started the prayer chain.  Friends dropped what they were doing.  Some were in the mall.  They dropped to the floor and began praying.  The drive seemed like an eternity.  I kept asking Jeremiah questions.  He was getting tired.  Stay awake.

Then he looked up at me and said,

Mom.  I can feel the prayers.  My body is being healed.

He had such a peace about him.  I believed him.  We got to the emergency room. Because of his condition, he never has to wait in line.  He was immediately taken back and the exams began…palpitating his body…blood work…x-rays…brain scan…Nothing broken.  No sign of internal bleeding.  And then the doctor says,

I have never seen anything like this.  I don’t know what happened.  But his platelets jumped up on his own!  They are at 49,000.

I asked him to repeat that number to me several times.  Jeremiah’s count has NEVER gone up on his own without a treatment.  We left the hospital with a severe sprain.  He should have been in surgery for internal bleeding.  But God intervened in a miraculous way.  Jeremiah and I were full of praise!

His body continues to hold its own.  God continues to do a healing work on my son.  God is so good!  He is the maker of miracles.  I believe in His healing power and am so thankful for that.  I know that God has a special plan for my son.  God will use Jeremiah in a mighty way!

Thank You God for Your healing hand!  Thank You for continuing to heal my son!  You are the God of miracles!  Thank You for the miracle You have done in Jeremiah!
